Humph.

Well I don't know how to feel about this how NaBloPoMo thing exactly. I haven't been a good blogger by any means but apparently they didn't feel it necessary to add me to the blogroll even though I sent a link to my blog. That kinda annoys me :-/
Oh well. I stink at blogging everyday anyway and like no one ever reads my blog anymore anyway. Oh well. I don't know how long I will keep this blog up anyway. I may cut the losses and just keep mine and my husband's 'family blog'. Which is for our extended family (who also never read our updates, figures-Melody this doesn't apply to you or Adrian for that matter).
Anyway now that I feel all annoyed that I wasn't even added to the blogroll I suppose I won't be making an effort to do NaBloPoMo. My blog isn't out there for others to read anyway. So I guess I'll just continue to post until I decided if I'm going to keep this thing on or not. I hope everyone is well!

K to the Bear

So I super stink at this everyday think! Yikes so I need to go ahead and write. :( I can't believe how easy it is to get distracted by life. The biggest think is I also write on a diary site which I spend why more time on, but I didn't really want my diary being looked at by the general public.

Anyway today I'm going to write about a hero in my family. Today I'm going to write about my little sister, Kendel. She is a learning hero, if you ask me. She started a new school this year and we found out that she was super behind. She started at a beginning reader level and she is in third grade. By the end of the year she has been doing great!

Today she won the most improved in reading, and math in her class. She also met her AR reading goal! She is right on level and has surpassed some of her classmate who were starting out higher than she was! I'm so proud of her and I think she shows us all that we can all doing anything if we work hard and but our mind to it.

I think next year she will be at the top of her class. I am just so proud of her, and to me she is a hero. Showing no matter what disservice the school system had done to you, you can prosper.

Miss Bell

So another late night entry. I don't know why but I just didn't seem to find the time until now to sit down and write an entry. I haven't even done that much today, although I did get a practice session in on some knitting that I'm working on. I did a trial run on a portion of the knitting. Turns out I'm not genius. I learned the hard way that when you do a stockinette row, four normal rows equals one row. So my item came up a bit short :P Oh well that is why we practice.

On to my Hero for today. Today's hero is a littler girl from Arizona. Her name is Lizzie Bell and you may have recognized her from Extreme Makeover Home Edition. She has a very rare blood disorder which requires that she have multiple blood transfusions.

Even though this little girl is suffering so much she is a HUGE advocate for the American Red Cross. It's amazing what she does on a daily basis. She makes all sorts of gift bags, and does promotions to get the word out on how important donating blood is to everyone. Donating blood is a gift of life. It's a gift that if people didn't give, this little girl wouldn't be alive. It's such a scary thing to think about; depending on others constantly to sustain your life.

So I think this little girl, at now the age of 15 is a huge hero. She faces such scary matters on a daily basis with the courage of a trained solider. I hope God heals and helps Lizzie. If he doesn't heal her I hope he uses her to get the word out to help others who need the gift of blood.

So in honor of Lizzie, I am beseeching my readers to please think about donating! It's a gift of precious life. Click here to find out where the nearest blood drive is to your location. If there isn't a drive going just go to the Red Cross. I am sure you just donate on the spot. You'll need two forms of id and about an hour. It's such a simple thing to do and you can bring a book or listen to your ipod. So get out there and be a hero, give the gift of life :D

NaBloPoMo

Aghh! So I have been a TERRIBLE blogger. Seriously. I didn't update at all in the month of May. What's worse is that interesting stuff has been going on! Bah. Well just to catch up quickly Franklin and I celebrated our second anniversary on May 26! Also Franklin got a job at a retail store which is great, and I have an interview this Thursday. Wow. Sad. I can sum up my month in a paragraph :(

Anyway in order to curb my terrible blogging ways and because I have so much extra time on my hands I've decided to participate in June's NaBloPoMo challenge. The theme is heroes. So I have a little less than an hour to come up with a blog on heroes or else I'll have already blown it! Figures!

Lucky for me Franklin and I watched a movie last night which was on one of my very favorite heroes, Gandhi.

I should preface this entry with the fact that I have always had a freaky, weird, small obsession with this man. I can't tell you how many projects I did on him in school, or how many times I've watched that movie. It's a little bit borderline weirdo. I do acknowledge that. I chalk it up to my heritage and just pure admiration. I feel like next to Christ he was the most understanding, and truly caring individuals that ever lived on this planet. I also just really relate to Gandhi.

Anyone who stands up to injustice and for tolerance of one another should be considered a hero. I don't feel I need to go into why this man is a hero. I think it's pretty self explanatory. He inspired other great leaders of the future, and changed a nations history. He gave all Indians and Pakistani's self respect. So I will list some of my favorite quotes from this amazing man. So in honor of Bapu Ji :

"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind."

"You must be the change you want to see in the world"

"Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony"
"When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it--always."

So many wise saying from one small man. It's amazing the power one person can have in the course of history. So my very first hero for the month of June is Gandhi. If you don't know much about him, look him up. He lived an amazing life!

Let's Cook- - Easter Dinner!

Hello All!
It's time for another edition of Let's Cook! I'm not going to be listing the recipes today, however, I am posting pictures from Easter Dinner. The recipes are linked in the previous post if you'd like them. In will be posting the leftover meal I made with the lamb. I have to go back and figure out what I put in it first! You will notice a few members of the meal missing. 1) Mint Jelly- I decided it was way too time consuming to make the mint jelly, plus my family really isn't all that into mint.2) Onion pudding- This is because of my own awesome culinary mistake. I was very tired and while reading the recipe I read the correct ingredient but wrong measurement :P It turned out okay-but I didn't want you darlings to think that creation was anything close to what the final product should look like. Maybe next time. So without further ado, the meal!

Rolls-Yumm. Easy to make and taste just like store bought, only better

Roasted Sweet Potatoes w/pecans and onions

My personal favorite- Brussels Sprouts-Au Gratin. SO GOOD!

Walnut-Raspberry torte-divine and not overly sweet.
The cream cheese frosting makes this whole dessert!

Last but not least, the lamb. As you can see, it had already been 'dug into'.

Overall this meal was yummy. It was pretty easy and not too expensive (I made everything for under 100 dollars). The lamb was organic and grass grown (so no yucky chemicals) and the leftover lamb I turned into a soup (but that's a whole different entry). I give it a thumbs up!

So for your next special event, break down and try these recipes..I promise you won't regret it!
